THE BARBERSHOP is a LIVE one-hour radio show on WOL News talk 1450AM. WOL is the only African American talk radio format in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, boasting thousands of loyal listeners. The station is one of four local stations in the Kathy Hughes - Radio One national conglomerate. THE BARBERSHOP debuted Saturday, May 14th 2005. The "Master Barber" host, John T. Crestwell, Jr., informally examines a number of ideas as they relate to local Prince George's County, like politics, education, development, religion, etc. The goal of THE BARBERSHOP is to raise the level of consciousness or awareness of the listener, to help them become better citizens, better thinkers, and better people in Prince George's County, MD and around the region. "A place where everybody doesn't know your name, but they're always glad you came!" About the host Reverend John T. Crestwell, Jr. is a native Washingtonian and resident of Cheverly, MD. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mass Media Arts from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, and earned his Master's Degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. Rev. Crestwell serves as a Minister at Davies Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church in Camp Springs, MD. He is active in a growth plan to assist the church in expanding into a multiracial congregation. John is author of the book, Conversations: The Hidden Truth That Keeps The World From Being At Peace, published in 2001, and is also an adjunct professor at Potomac College teaching Comparative Religion, African American History, and Public Speaking. He has been married to Sharon R. Crestwell for thirteen years. They have three children, John Thomas III (10), Kennedy Lena (8), and Zephyr Alfred (2). Rev. John's hobbies include reading philosophical books, writing, singing, tennis, golf, skiing, martial arts, movies, and watching sports & biographies on television.
